Investing in India

The reason why International Companies like Pearson are entering the Indian education sector is:

India has a huge untapped market and hence has huge scalability.

We can see a lot of international exposure to Indian education sector by having proper regulations in place for foreign universities to enter the Indian market. Stanford University and Oxford University have shown interest in setting up campuses in India and hence this matter should be looked into very carefully and act upon it immediately.

If these matters are taken care of then we can stop high percentage of high potential students to go out from India for pursuing their desired career training.

Investment in the sector will go up with liberalisation of the sector especially the formal education sector (Primary, Secondary, Higher Secondary and Higher education)

  1. one more reason is the mindset in foreign countries....most of the students drop out pretty early and completing graduation is considered very erudite which is not the scenario in india as students are very much pushed towards higher education. Also, tough competition resulting from lack of good institutes provides a good opportunity to these well-established names in the field of education to spread their reach and tap potential markets such as India.

  2. True Manish, I think that is the reason why the foreign countries are growing in vocational education segment... And India lags behind in the same.. You will find more of a technical and objective study happens outside India. People in India study because of three main reasons(in order of importance):

    1. to LEARN and extend knowledge
    2. to carry on the tradition of learning of prdecessors or to form tradition for successors
    3. to become independent and earn to feed oneself and his dependents
